Day 1 Auckland

Kia ora, meet your tour manager, tour assistants, coach driver and fellow travellers at Auckland Airport. We head into central Auckland to visit the iconic Sky Tower before checking in to our accommodation.

 

Tonight we have our first home cooked meal a delicious duo of dinner and dessert. Later we get to know our fellow travellers and learn about the exciting days ahead.

DAY 2 Auckland - Rotorua

We're up early for breakfast then we head south to Hobbiton and Middle-Earth where we enjoy a tour of the movie site of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit... See the Hobbit holes, the mill and famous party tree and enjoy a cold drink at the Green Dragon.

From here we're off to Rotorua, the city famous for bubbling mud, spouting water and wonderful Maori Culture.

Dinner tonight is a homecooked meal at our accommodation.

Day 3 Rotorua

First up we visit Te Puia, the premier Maori Cultural centre in New Zealand, a place of spouting waters, boiling mudpools, and steaming vents is our first stop today....

After Te Puia, we have a group photo before some free time to try White Water Rafting, Zorb, Velocity Valley activities or just soak in the hot mineral waters of the Polynesian Spa.

Tonight we are in for a very special night as we enter the world of Tamaki. Here we discover Maori art forms, ancient rituals and traditions, experience thrilling song and dance and then eat a delicious and authentic Maori Hangi.

Day 4 Rotorua - Wellington

It's off to Wellington today via Taupo and Tongariro National Park. Our first stop is a visit to the thunderous Huka falls situated on the beautiful Waikato River....

After lunch in Taupo we pass the three volcanoes, Mounts Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe and travel south to the capital city of New Zealand Wellington. We visit Te Papa New Zealand's bold and innovative museum, where we can see the colossal squid, experience an earthquake and see examples of many of New Zealand's native birds and mammals.

Tonight dinner is your choice at one of the many café's and restaurants within walking distance for our accommodation.

Day 5 Wellington - Kaikoura

This morning we take the Interislander Ferry cruising between the North and South Island.

Have your camera handy as the journey through the Marlborough Sounds is spectacular. Picton is the gateway to the South Island and from here we make our way to the coastal town Kaikoura.

Day 6 Kaikoura - Motueka

Kaikoura is well known for its abundance of marine life and this morning you have an opportunity to experience the unforgettable sight of whales or go swimming with dolphins.

If you don’t feel like getting wet, there is also an optional boat trip to view these amazing creatures instead.


This afternoon we make our way to Motueka, home for our next two nights and situated beside the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park.

Day 7 Motueka

We rise and shine bright and early to take advantage of this paradise.

We enjoy the ultimate sea kayaking experience and explore the beautiful golden beaches, peaceful coves and lagoons, offshore islands and wildlife

Stopping at our secluded beach, we have a picnic lunch and enjoy some free time to relax and go swimming before our trek back through the native forest.

Day 8 Motueka - Franz Josef

Have your cameras ready as our drive takes us through the Buller Gorge and the spectacular West Coast. We visit the famous Punakaiki (Pancake Rocks) and have time to explore the rocks and blowholes before making our way to Hokitika.......

From here we travel to Franz Josef where we stay overnight. You may wish to take a Scenic Helicopter (at a very special NZET price) and experience the awe-inspiring scenery of Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers as you climb to 6000ft.

Tonight we enjoy a pizza meal at our accommodation.

Day 9 Franz Josef - Wanaka

This morning we cross the Haast Pass travelling through three national parks and a world heritage park.

Fox Glacier attracts over 1000 people each day! Remember you're walking shoes and jacket as our walk today takes us to the base of Fox Glacier for an up close and personal look at the frozen glacier river that was formed thousands of years ago.

 

From here we head to Wanaka, a place of breathtaking lakes and mountains. We stop at Puzzling World, the world’s first modern-style maze and a deceptive, frustrating, confusing and definitely out of the ordinary experience!

Day 10 Wanaka - Queenstown 

Kia ora Queenstown - the 'Adventure Capital' of New Zealand and home to the latest and greatest adventure activities from bungy jumping and jet boating to whitewater rafting, river surfing and canyon swinging.

Our first stop is the famous AJ Hackett base, the birthplace of bungy and one of the most famous attractions in Queenstown. We watch the secrets of bungy and then for those of you who dare... you have time for an optional 43m bungy off Kawarau Bridge! It's then time to capture our awesome crew with a professional group photo for grat memories of our trip. 

Our next adventure is a spectacular jet boat ride on the mighty Shotover River. We speed over water as shallow as 10cm, experiencing 360-degree spins along this famous river and deep into the spectacular Shotover Canyons..

From here it is a short drive to Queenstown.

Day 11 Queenstown

Today is a free day and time to make the most of the adventure activities on offer! With special NZET prices, try a Canyon Swing, Nevis Bungy, River Rafting, Gondola & Luge or any of the other thrilling activities.

Do you feel like dangling on a high wire cable 134 metres over the valley floor? Then try the Nevis.


If jumping or being released from 109 metres into a canyon with over 70 different jumpstyles, try the Canyon Swing.

 

This afternoon you will see the best views in Queenstown on the Skyline Gondola which carries you 450 metres above Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu to the top of Bob's Peak followed by three thrilling luge rides down.

(Remember, as long as we have your natural parent's permission for the activities on offer, we will organise all of these activities for you while on tour).

Day 12 Queenstown - Doubtful Sound

Today we experience the ultimate Doubtful Sound experience, spend the night on the boat and wake up in one of the most beautiful places on earth. This is one of our exclusive and very special tour highlights.

We start with a drive into the mystical wilderness of Fiordland National Park then cruise over Lake Manapouri before boarding the Fiordland Navigator for an overnight experience.

We have plenty of time to view the spectacular waterfalls, rainforest, mountains and wildlife and also go exploring in kayaks or simply go swimming in this amazing place (if you’re brave enough!).


As night falls, we enjoy a delicious buffet dinner then relax while doing some star gazing.

Day 13 Doubtful Sound - Tekapo

This morning we cruise back to Te Anau, board our coach and then we're off to Tekapo.

 

On arrival we check out the Church of the Good Shepherd for some great photos then there's time for a dip in the refreshingly cool lake before we head to Tekapo Hot Spings for a relaxing soak.


Tonight we enjoy our final night together with a yummy dinner, games and presentations.

Day 14 Tekapo to Christchurch to Home

This morning we make our way to Christchurch airport where we are dropped off with an amazing bunch of new friends and 'ferntastic' memories....
